Excellence and leadership honoured at St Francis Xavier College assembly

Whole School Assembly Term 1

In an assembly marked by intellectual distinction and student leadership, St Francis Xavier College today honoured the academic accomplishments of its Year 12 cohort while formally commissioning the College’s 2026 Student Representative Council. The gathering reflected a community deeply committed to scholarship, responsibility and the formation of young people prepared not only to succeed, but to serve.

At the heart of the ceremony was the presentation of Semester Awards recognising students whose sustained diligence and intellectual curiosity have distinguished them among their peers. The College acknowledged excellence across two key dimensions: Academic Achievement and Commitment to Studies

To qualify for Academic Achievement, students attained an ‘A’ grade across the majority of their courses studied throughout the semester, demonstrating mastery of content and depth of understanding. The Commitment to Studies award recognised those who achieved the highest levels of consistency in their Approaches to Learning, embodying discipline, resilience and a steadfast dedication to improvement.

Several students were recognised for excellence across both categories, an accomplishment reflecting sustained focus and exemplary work ethic. The following Year 12 students received both Academic Achievement and Commitment to Studies awards:

Jigme Chopel, Charlotte Cirjak, Natalia Gill, Sarah Rabbets and Mikayla Scanlan.

An Academic Achievement award was presented to:

Jasmine Mitchell.

Awards for Commitment to Studies were presented to:

Isabella Costanzo, Odin Goddard, Aditya Kadanur, Farhana Khan, Jarrah Kingston, Lucy Lawton, Scarlett Lees, Maya McRae, Jack Moyle, Lennox Murray-Clark, Raneem Omar, Lexi Rebecca and Angelino Schiavello.

The assembly also celebrated the recipient of the Academic Excellence Award, honouring the student who achieved the highest aggregate grade point average across all academic subjects within the cohort for Semester 2, 2025. This significant distinction was awarded to Farhana Khan, whose academic record reflects both remarkable consistency and exceptional intellectual commitment.

Year 12 Coordinator Mr Luke Potter praised the cohort’s discipline and perseverance, noting that the awards represent more than academic success alone.

“I am immensely proud of the dedication and commitment our Year 12 students continue to demonstrate in their studies. These awards recognise not only outstanding academic outcomes, but the consistent effort, focus and integrity that underpin them. Today’s recipients exemplify the habits of excellence that will serve them well beyond the classroom.”
